Internet Trends 2017 Report Code Conference by @KPCB

Hoy traemos a este espacio esta slideshare titulada "Internet Trends 2017 Report" extraida de Kleiner Perkins.

Kleiner Perkins general partner Mary Meeker launched the 22nd edition of the Internet Trends Report at the Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, on May 31, 2017. Dating back to 1995, when Mary was still an equity analyst at Morgan Stanley, the annual report compiles and analyzes data from a wide range of sources, providing insights on the state of the Internet Economy. The deck covers a broad array of topics, including global internet user trends, advertising and e-commerce, gaming, online media, digital health, and much, much more. This guide is intended to highlight some of the key topics of discussion in this year’s edition – and to help media navigate the report.

Focus Topics:

• Online Ads and Commerce: More Measurable and Actionable: A review of current advertising trends shows an increased focus on the measurability of online ads. Also: the interconnectedness of ads and commerce where ads are the storefront. (Slides 10-79)
• Interactive Games: Evolving, Pervasive, Driving Innovation: Esports have become one of the world’s biggest spectator sports, Also, there’s growing use of games for education and learning, providing skills that are hard to obtain otherwise. Gaming is a leading indicator for many elements of today’s consumer/enterprise tech landscape. (Slides 80-150)
• Media: Distribution Disruption: Digital streaming businesses have changed the media game through scale and personalization. Consumers are increasingly wary of the bundle, opting for the choice, personalization and pricing of both large and emerging subscription media businesses. (Slides 151-177)
• Healthcare: At A Digital Inflection Point: Digitization of patient data, pharmaceutical testing and medical records is driving faster and more accurate insights. (Slides 288-319)
• Enterprise: Clouds on the Horizon: Widespread adoption of cloud computing is driving a revolution in enterprise applications, but also a corresponding rise in security threats. (Slides 178-192)
• China: Golden Age of Entertainment and Transportation: Increasing mobile user engagement in China is catalyzing an evolution in mobile-centric entertainment and financial technology. Also, China is the leading on-demand transportation economy globally – as bike-sharing companies rapidly emerge. (Slides 193-231)
• India: Competition Continues to Intensify…Consumers Winning: Behind China, but leapfrogging to new technology infrastructure driven by Prime Minister Modi's policies and 1.2 billion people with digital identity profiles. (Slides 232-287)(leer más...)

Your mind is software. Program it. Your body is a shell. Change it. Death is a disease. Cure it. Extinction is approaching. Fight it.

Eclipse Phase (2009).

Transhumanism is defined as: The intellectual and cultural movement that affirms the possibility and desirability of fundamentally improving the human condition through applied reason, especially by developing and making widely available technologies to eliminate aging and to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities;
and the study of the ramifications, promises, and potential dangers of technologies that will enable us to overcome fundamental human limitations, and the related study of the ethical matters involved in developing and using such technologies.

M-Write. Writing-to-Learn Pedagogies at Scale. Machine Learning in University of Michigan @UMichiganAI

About the Initiative

Tags: DIG, Digital Tool, Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Writing-to-learn pedagogies engage students by asking them to explain what they know, to interact with one another through peer review, and to learn through a revision process. Sweetland Center for Writing Director and English Professor Anne Gere and Chemistry Professor Ginger Shultz have developed methods to enable faculty to infuse writing into large gateway courses on campus and tested them in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts and the College of Engineering. Now they are joining forces with the Digital Innovation Greenhouse to develop M-Write: a digital toolkit supporting the application of writing-to-learn pedagogies at scale. M-Write will combine conceptual writing prompts, automated peer review with rubrics, natural language processing, and personalized feedback using ECoach to create an infrastructure for writing at scale. This will enable the implementation of content-focused writing activities to better engage students from diverse disciplines in the subject matter and increase their comprehension of key concepts.

In 2015, the M-Write team was awarded a $1.8M grant from the Transforming Learning for a Third Century (TLTC) program through the Third Century Initiative to support the development of this tool and the practical use of writing at scale through the use of technology, with the goal of reaching more than 10,000 U-M students by 2021.

The data revolution in education. Informe @UNESCO #BigData

The Data Revolution in EducationHoy traemos a este espacio este informe de la UNESCO, de 81 pp., .titulado "The data revolution in education." que nos presentan así:

The ambitious Agenda for Sustainable Development and Education 2030 requires countries to report more and better quality data to track progress and inform policymaking on education and learning. But how will this broad data agenda be met?

As the Inter-agency and Expert Group Sustainable Development Goal indicators (IAEG–SDG) meets in Ottawa from 28-31 March, the UIS has released a paper that calls for a data revolution in education built on the foundation of national statistical systems and supported by a global compact for monitoring the global education goal, SDG 4.
The Data Revolution in Education, produced by the UIS as a background paper for the Education Commission, includes a set of recommendations for producing and disseminating high-quality education statistics for planning and monitoring progress toward education targets.
The report calls for changes across three broad areas that address both the supply and demand sides of national education information systems.
Enabling environment: National statistical organizations require an enabling environment underwritten by more funding, investments in technology and skilled personnel, and greater efforts to overcome the fragmentation of education data and evidence sector across government agencies.
